Here’s an idea I shared on Instagram earlier this week. I thought I’d share it with you for some inspiration.
Something about experiencing old cities and new scenery appeal to me, from; a new language, local people, food, music, and more. I thought I wouldn’t get to experience any of this until we’re empty nesters. …That is until I realized I could do my best to bring these experiences home.
We decided to “travel” to various places around the world. In our “travels”, we learned new words of different languages, watched tour videos, and tried the local food. We are mostly interested in the Mediterranean, European, Asian, and Caribbean regions.
For our “travels” to Italy we have taught our boys how to say “ciao” (“hi” and “bye”). We’ve also shown them the geographical location, some of the popular attractions, and a 4K drone video. We’ve enjoyed cooking together while listening to Italian music.
Here’s what we’ve eaten during our “travels”:
Tortellini
Lasagna
Chicken Marsala
Risotto
Quiche
Pesto Linguine
Minestrone
Spinach Manicotti
Homemade ravioli
Potato Gnocchi
Crepes and eggs
Spaghetti with Homemade Marinara
Since, we’ve also explored China, Ireland, Spain, and Jamaica. It’s been fun for us, and the kids really seem to enjoy it.
Which countries or regions would you explore with your family?
