Better Than Chicken Nuggets

Better Than Chicken Nuggets

Frugal and healthy meals often don’t go hand-in-hand. Sometimes it’s cheaper to cook some hot dogs and mac and cheese. But those boring foods aren’t packed with flavor or nutrition.

But here’s a healthy version of chicken nuggets that are better for you, more affordable, more filling, and taste 1,000x better! An average bag of 2 lb. chicken nuggets cost about $4-5. For the same amount of food, these cost you some leftover chicken or about $2 to make!

10 Motivational Quotes For the Mom Who Feels Stuck

10 Motivational Quotes For the Mom Who Feels Stuck

Friends, if there’s one thing that really needs sharing, it’s this.

It’s normal to dive head first into the sea of motherhood unknowingly. It’s an exciting new adventure that you get lost in. You overcome a lot of tribulations in this underwater journey. Finally, you look for a glimmering ray of sunlight to lead you to the air. Once you’ve surfaced, you might have no idea where you are anymore, and you have no idea where to go. You aren’t quite the same person anymore.

How to Speed Clean (With Essential Oils)

How to Speed Clean (With Essential Oils)
**This post contains a link to a website which I may receive a small compensation from. **

One of the biggest stressors of being home with my boys is keeping the house clean. It’s like I spend a morning cleaning and then by dinner time it’s destroyed. Sometimes it feels pointless.

Do you feel this way too? Like you might be a little more enthused if you could clean your whole house while someone watched your kids? Or if once your house was clean, your kids helped you keep it clean?

My house never stays clean! But I can make it appear that way for guests.

How We Hudson

How We Hudson

Have you ever wondered how large families function? How do they get places on time? How do they feed all those kids? How do they afford it all?

A new YouTube channel, “How We Hudson” has begun a questions series. The family of 9 seems to manage everything so well that people have been asking them how they do it. They took to YouTube and post these endearing videos frequently.

Cute Children’s Books (From My Instagram)

Cute Children’s Books (From My Instagram)

Children’s books are one of the most fun, engaging, educational, and magical components of childhood. I’m sure you remember a good book that someone special read to you when you were little. The page-by-page adventures that transpired before your little eyes, your growing mind. And somehow certain books are engraved into our memory, even after all these years.

I still remember my mom taking us to the library often. We would raid the children’s books bin. Then we would always stop over at videos (Yes, I mean VHS’s!). If we asked mom to read she never said no. So I have some good memories of sitting alongside and following the words on each line.

10 Resources for your New Year Resolutions

10 Resources for your New Year Resolutions

Someone asked me the other day if I was excited for 2019. Yet, another honest answer from me… I’m not ready for it. The holidays this year just feel super sped up. Right now, I have no current plans tonight except to stay up with my 6 year old while everyone else sleeps. My husband has work tomorrow and I don’t even want to deal with the little ones late at night.

Then there’s the whole New Years Resolutions thing.

All I want is to live a life of feeling good physically, spiritually in-touch, able to time-manage my whole family better, more patient with my kids, more time with my husband, and I want more financial freedom. But I’m not going to start all of these tomorrow. Of course I want a well-rounded life. But like any real-life scenario, once the car needs new breaks, the washing machine breaks.

So I’m going to chip away at these guides all year long during the times in which I feel like I need them most. These have all been resources I’ve used all throughout my adult life (and they litter my Instagram feed too!).

Christmas Countdown

Christmas Countdown

11 days until Christmas! Are you ready?

Here in northwest Ohio, we’ve been ready since Halloween because of our early snow. In fact, our youngest has been sure to thank God every dinner time prayer for our Christmas tree. Since October. We didn’t have a tree up until two weeks ago.

As Christmas approaches this year, I’ve tried to take the pressure off and focus on more important things. I could be trying harder to whip out some quick posts for you, sell you all my favorite things, and focus on all the commercialism. But I’m not going to. I realize that makes me sound a little bit like Charlie Brown.

Instead I’ve been focused on how blessed I am, focusing on my family, my goals for the next year, and focusing on my purpose.

A lot has changed for our family over the years. The biggest changes are of the heart for us. No one says life is going to be easy, safe, or that it will be constant. But I think God uses those moments of uncertainty to depend on Him. When we grow humble, we can see our blessings clearly.

Our family has been through a lot of stressful situations from NICU visits, ER visits, break-ins, military life, and at times financial strains. But those moments have shed some light on my blessings. I now see my healthy family, that we’re safe, we have amazing support, everything we need, and a God who loves us.

Our pastor has been preaching on the Nativity story leading up to Christmas. I’ve heard so many renditions of the same story. The basic story, the cultural break down, and even this hilarious viral video done done by Soutland Church!

In preparation for Christmas, we’ve been crafting, listening to a lot of Pentatonix, decorating, and making some goodies!

What have you guys been doing to prepare for Christmas?
